I love this card by Linda Dotterer, it’s a “One of A Kind Card” in the Boutique.
I don’t know what it is about Monday Morning that always makes me feel so tired. I think it’s just that there is much to do this week, and thinking about it all makes me weary. I may call my mom and ask her, she always has wonderful words of wisdom on this kind of thing. I’m sure she’ll tell me to make the most of today, and not waste too much time thinking about the other work to be done. She’s right, of course, if I’d just make a list instead of constantly reviewing it in my head, I’d probably feel less stressed and actually get more done!
The blog challenge asks me to name 3 things I’m good at. I think I would have said “setting goals and meeting deadlines” – but lately that may not qualify!
I am good at taking care of my family. I set that as my top priority in life from the time I found out I was to be blessed with a child. I literally put everything I had and am into that one task. I’ve let a lot of other things pass by the wayside along the way, but I’ve held true to that commitment, and I’m always glad I did.
I’m good at letting my artistic endeavors make me happy. I can’t say I’m good at it, as art is up to everyone to judge for themselves, but I like making things that I like looking at, that I’m proud of, and it makes me happy to do that.

I told my mother about a new thing that’s helping me with my productivity and she just laughed. Apparently she discovered books on cd (or cassette) years ago. For me it started Friday night. The children and I went out at midnight and bought the final book in the Harry Potter series. Well, we were leaving on a trip first thing in the morning, and I found it difficult to read in the car. So my husband had the idea to pop into the nearest Walmart and see if they had any books on cd left. I think they had two left, but in any case, we did get one, and listened all the way on our way up and back from our excursion. However, it is 21 hours long and on 17 CDs, so, we only made it to the 4th CD.
I just couldn’t wait to see what was happening with Harry, and I had lots to do in my new work room, so I headed down, put on the next set of CDs and worked and listened. After I had the room clean and organized, I still had several CDs left, so I began card making. I just couldn’t leave without knowing how it was all going to end. Afterall, as I explained to my mom, it’s been a part of the last 10 years of my life! So I worked and listened – unfortunately I hadn’t put up a wall clock yet, and when Jim Dale finished the Epilogue, I realized it was 3am! Oh well, at least I slept better knowing.

I know I’ve posted about our dogs before. Great dogs. We’ve had them for over 13 years. Well, they both had developed tumors (brain and stomach), and were put down today. I can’t even begin to express my sorrow. It’s been a very hard week, and knowing that the dogs were going in today, we did everything we could think of to make our last days special (I grilled them steaks, fed them special food, lots of treats), but still our hearts were breaking. So I begged my husband to take the children and go to our local shelter (where they have a huge over abundance of kittens at the moment), and bring two home. He did.

We want to honor our pups that we saved from a shelter so many years ago by saving two more beautiful friends and giving them a good home. Farewell to our dearest buddies, and we welcome our new babies.

Every year we celebrate Christmas in July. We pick a convenient weekend, pull out and decorate the tree, watch Christmas movies all day – and yes, there’s even some presents to open. Some of you know that we are a military family, and as such, we learned a long time ago, that you just have to make the most of every day. So we have lots of family parties – usually just the four of us, and for all kinds of reasons – good report cards, Arbor Day, Football Season Kickoff, and any Friday, to name a few.
Once we’ve celebrated our Christmas in July – I’m so in the mood, I go ahead and get a jump on my Season’s Greetings! I try to have them all done before school starts. After school starts, it just seems like one fast downward slide through September, October, and November – right the holidays into the New Year. Trust me, I have plenty to keep me busy, and I’m always glad that my cards are ready to go!

I just redid my scrap room to this a couple of months ago, and had planned on leaving it like this for many years….. well we all know about the best laid plans of mice and men…..
I am almost done finishing a large add on segment to the house, and I was just going to let the kids have it for now, and build my art studio there later. But, my son, came and told me (politely) that he believes I really need to move out of this part of the house and move all my stuff into the other part. Well, since he would like it done, he’s willing to make it happen, so instead of scrapping – I’m moving today. All of this has to be taken out of the cabinets, and brought over, and then those wall units need to be moved as well. It’s going to be a huge undertaking. I just hope I’m still alive to enjoy it! I know I’ll be more productive – and I guess the rest of house will benefit from me not “taking over” and leaving all my supplies out – it’ll all be confined elsewhere!
