New Section of My ETSY Store

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:50 pm by PaperDesigns

I’m really excited about my new category for my ETSY store.  It’s printable digital graphics.  These are Halloween Tags, Vintage Style, that are presized for the large tag rims available in most craft stores.    I’ve been having a ball working with these printables.  I needed to test them to ensure that when they printed that they would fit the metal rim tags – and they do!

See – these are two sided tags – here’s the other side:

As in this black aged one with jack-o-lanterns, they work well to create your own cardstock stickers.  Or,  I then adhered it down onto chipboard and put Mod Podge on it – and created my own chipboard embellishment.

a little distressing and some inked edges was all it took!

And I used one of the two-sided tags on the coordinating envelope for a Halloween Card – The sender could write in the recipients name – and it would make a nice presentation for the card.

The Blog Question of the day asks what am I looking forward to this upcoming week.  I don’t think I have any specific plans.  I think I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing!  I’d really like to fill my ETSY store with more cards and digital printables, and, I’m still working, and taking the kids to band practice, guitar practice, dance practice, etc – well you get the idea – my week is already filled before it even starts!

21 Years

The blog question asks what qualities in my spouse do I admire.  I think it’s his ability to do what he needs to do without comment.  We’ve been married for 21 years, and he was in the Service for 21 years.  Dozens of combat tours, hundreds of deployments, 101 combat jumps, etc – never once did he ever say “gosh this is hard, I’d like to not go this trip”.  Never once did he balk at an assignment or let anyone down.  There’s something to say about a man who knows his responsibilities and lives up to them without complaint.

This layout was made for my Gallery at RAKScraps from the Free Newsletter kit called:  Fresh Cuts by Shannon Fahrnbach.

Journaling Tells the Story

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:35 pm by PaperDesigns

The blog question asks for my opinion on Journaling on layouts.  I believe that journaling tells the story.  Anyone who has ever gone through a pile of her parent’s or grandparent’s photos and has seen that they weren’t labelled knows that without the journaling – the photos cannot tell the whole story by themselves.  It’s easy when you have a cute photo of your baby boy eating peaches for the first time.  You know he’s your son, you know he’s eating peaches – but will those who see your scrapbook years from now know?

I just completed an anniversary layout.  I tell the story of our first anniversary – when I turned to my dear hubby and said:  “oh just think honey, someday I’ll be turning to you and wishing you a happy 20th anniversary – won’t that be sweet?”  and he said “No, we’ll be old”!!

Well, Thursday was our 21st anniversary!  I guess that makes us older than old!  But without the journaling – the photos could never have told that story.

The picture above is from the Green Sneakers Card Gallery, who I design for, and they have agreed to allow me to sell the cards I made there on my ETSY store!
