I’m really excited about my new category for my ETSY store. It’s printable digital graphics. These are Halloween Tags, Vintage Style, that are presized for the large tag rims available in most craft stores. I’ve been having a ball working with these printables. I needed to test them to ensure that when they printed that they would fit the metal rim tags – and they do!

See – these are two sided tags – here’s the other side:

As in this black aged one with jack-o-lanterns, they work well to create your own cardstock stickers. Or, I then adhered it down onto chipboard and put Mod Podge on it – and created my own chipboard embellishment.

a little distressing and some inked edges was all it took!
And I used one of the two-sided tags on the coordinating envelope for a Halloween Card – The sender could write in the recipients name – and it would make a nice presentation for the card.

The Blog Question of the day asks what am I looking forward to this upcoming week. I don’t think I have any specific plans. I think I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing! I’d really like to fill my ETSY store with more cards and digital printables, and, I’m still working, and taking the kids to band practice, guitar practice, dance practice, etc – well you get the idea – my week is already filled before it even starts!

The blog question asks what qualities in my spouse do I admire. I think it’s his ability to do what he needs to do without comment. We’ve been married for 21 years, and he was in the Service for 21 years. Dozens of combat tours, hundreds of deployments, 101 combat jumps, etc – never once did he ever say “gosh this is hard, I’d like to not go this trip”. Never once did he balk at an assignment or let anyone down. There’s something to say about a man who knows his responsibilities and lives up to them without complaint.
This layout was made for my Gallery at RAKScraps from the Free Newsletter kit called: Fresh Cuts by Shannon Fahrnbach.

The blog question asks for my opinion on Journaling on layouts. I believe that journaling tells the story. Anyone who has ever gone through a pile of her parent’s or grandparent’s photos and has seen that they weren’t labelled knows that without the journaling – the photos cannot tell the whole story by themselves. It’s easy when you have a cute photo of your baby boy eating peaches for the first time. You know he’s your son, you know he’s eating peaches – but will those who see your scrapbook years from now know?
I just completed an anniversary layout. I tell the story of our first anniversary – when I turned to my dear hubby and said: “oh just think honey, someday I’ll be turning to you and wishing you a happy 20th anniversary – won’t that be sweet?” and he said “No, we’ll be old”!!
Well, Thursday was our 21st anniversary! I guess that makes us older than old! But without the journaling – the photos could never have told that story.
The picture above is from the Green Sneakers Card Gallery, who I design for, and they have agreed to allow me to sell the cards I made there on my ETSY store!

Okay, I agree, it has been a long time coming. I finally got the photos of the Art Studio up. It’s also in the main menu, too. I built it almost a year ago – but it has been a continual work in progress as I try to keep it organized. I’m going to try to concentrate on my Card Making and ETSY Store this summer – so I’ll be posting a lot more of my work here. And….. if all goes to plan, I’ll be able to finally get to some of the new tutorials and reviews I’ve been meaning to write and get posted! I may be biting off more than I can chew – but with my oldest now graduated from HS, and things settling down to an easy roar – I may actually get to the things I’ve wanted to for myself!
The blog question asks: What silly thing have I read lately in the news?
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. — Frederick County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who attacked a convenience store clerk with a banana.
A man walked into a 7-Eleven store in Monrovia just after midnight Wednesday and demanded money. Investigators said that when the clerk refused, the man became so agitated that he started grabbing items off the counter.
He snatched up a banana and began hitting the clerk, the sheriff’s office said.
The clerk pulled out a knife, and the man with the banana split.

I love this old photo of my great grand parents. They’re on their way to a family gathering. You can see the baskets of food they’re bringing over! Wonderful! It’s so interesting to see this snapshot of another time, of people several generations back, and what they were doing. This is my heritage.

Raising a puppy is a lot like having a little baby around! Our new “baby” Duke is working on being a well trained puppy, but he needs extra love and attention. When Daddy comes home at the end of the day – even though all of us were home entertaining him – he cries and cries “Daddy, you’re home, Daddy, you’re home”! Hubby can’t even make it all the way into the hallway – he has to close the front door, and get on his knees and pat Duke and let him know all is well, Daddy is home! It’s so cute – and it happens every day!
Then, our oldest graduated High School, Magna Cum Laude – we’re so proud. He worked so hard for so many years!
And, RAKScraps now has a blog, so I’m afraid between the Green Sneakers Blog, and RAKScraps, I don’t always get to this one! But I will try to be here more.

Hubby took the kids to Ohio, and at one of the big sporting goods stores they have a rock wall. Well, my daughter is a big climber, and just has to try. She did pretty well – she’s a natural at it.
I’m making more digital pages all the time and learning more all the time from the wonderful people at RAKScraps.com. It’s a lot less messy. Of course, I still have a TON of paper – and for unknown reasons I keep buying more – but I guess I’ll use that for my card making. I’m still making cards for the Green Sneakers Blog. I just finished a series on ”A Dozen Tips for Card Making”, and I just started a new series on “Making Cards and Envelopes for Mailing” and the follow up series will be “Making Cards and Envelopes For Hand Delivery”. If you want to see the cards in advance – they’re in the Green Sneakers Card Gallery - under Cards to Give, and Cards to Mail.
Here’s another big reason for being and staying busy – in addition to the hours at work – I have a new puppy! His name is Duke, and we just love him so much!

Here’s a card I made for the RAK N Roll Block Party at RAKScraps. It was a one day event for creating layouts, digi crafts, and hybrid projects. I use the kit “Natural Feeling” by RStall and then used a Green Sneakers Kreate-a-lope for making the card and envelope.
So, still busy – still happy! But I’m not getting to much else! The house and kids are fine, but my other projects have seriously slowed down – to include my blog here. There’s a 55% off coupon at ACMoore that ends tomorrow – so I hope to make it out shopping. JoAnn’s has the Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folders in and whole aisle of clear stamps. So it looks like I need a trip to a Super Js!
But I guess I need to get back to work for now…..

As many of you know I’ve been working PaperDesignsByBarbara for over 2 years, and it was fun, but I wasn’t really moving anywhere. Tax year was coming to a close, and I had to make some big business decisions. Then my friend, Nick (the guy I work for over at Green Sneakers), said he had a project for me and would I work full time? Well WOULD I??? Uhh YAH! So being that I’m an independent freelance artist and designer – I just had all of my hours bought out! I am thrilled, and he’s great to work for – I’m just really, really busy!
I now work over at RAKScraps.com – and if you love digi or hybrid scrapping you might just want to check it out – it’s a really great place. They have these great monthly Mega Kits, and that’s where I got the papers and elements for the layout above: (Elements and Papers from: JBrown, clcrook, GDupus, knorthrup). And then there’s the wonderful challenges – so that’s where I got the sketch for the layout – there’s a Sketch Challenge. So now I get to work with great people, have a ball, get free kits, and get my scrapping done! Okay, like I said – I’m happy! – but busy.
I hope you’ll pop over and say “Hi”!!
The blog challenge question asks: one thing I’ll never forget is…. and my little girl is 11 almost 12, but she’s still young, and I remember all of her years. But my son will be graduating high school in a couple of months. He’s 6 foot tall, strong, healthy, fun, and sweet – but when I look at him, the one thing I’ll never forget is that he used to be a little tiny baby clinging to my shoulder. I don’t know why, a lot of babies like to be on their mama’s hip – but he would climb to higher ground, he just really liked to be all the way up on one shoulder. I guess because he really isn’t my baby anymore, that I try really hard to never forget these kinds of things.

The blog challenge question asked what are my ’scrapping’ plans for today – well, I think of card making as “scrapping” because I use all of my supplies from scrapbooking – but today I’m teaching a class where we will be making these 10 cards, plus 2 Easter cards – in 2 hours! So I spent yesterday and today cutting up all of the little pieces necessary for each participant, and my daughter helped me make sure that the right number of brads and Primas went into every zip lock baggie. Now, knowing that I did everything I could think of to prepare – I still feel sure I’ll get there to find I’ve forgotten something! I hope not, I’ve looked over this picture 30 times, and I think I have all the pieces cut and ready!
Here’s hoping you have a wonderful and productive day!
